Preschool Room July 23rd

We had a great Wednesday!  During Jesus Time, we read about Jesus healing someone who was sick.  We talked about how Jesus heals us when we are sick!!!

We spent a lot of time outside this morning enjoying the overcast and cool morning!
After snack, I posed a problem that I had to the children.  I wanted to organize the blocks but wasn't sure how to do it.  I asked them for ideas on how to sort the blocks.  After coming up with several, the group picked one way and then worked together to sort.  We focused on the words "same" and "different".  This activity also encouraged social skills of listening, sharing of responsibilities, and a lot of problem solving.  The kids were so excited to see if the plan would work!

It did!  When they were finished the block center was very organized and we had a group of very proud kids!  Mrs. Larimore and I didn't put away one block! :)
During Center Time, we worked on counting using counters and dice.  Each child rolled one or two dice and then had to tell Mrs. Larimore what number they rolled and then get that number of counters out of the tub.  Mrs. Larimore asked some kids to take away counters to work on subtraction.  She also asked some kids to add one more to make a new number.
We explored again with the light table and building.
The last center we worked on writing "Big Lines" and "Big Curves"....words they will be hearing soon in Preschool.  We had fun with the magnetic stamps to make letters.

We then went on a number hunt on the way to play in the gym.  I had the numbers 1-10 hidden in the main school building and they had fun finding the numbers and coloring them in on their papers.

A fun and busy day we had at school!
