This week we will be taking a look at the Bible story from;
Luke 10:25-37 - The Parable of the Good Samaritan.
The class heard how we should love mankind by showing God's love by being kind and helpful to one another.
Topics we discussed: Independence Day, transportation,
The children used crayons to color a mini book. This would be a good tool to use at home to reinforce the story. Please use the mini book to view the text.
We started the day by finishing the vacation theme from last week with 2 fish activities: magnetic fishing and connecting linking fish.
In honor of Independence Day the class used tempera paint (red, white and blue) to paint a 4th of July celebration page. The explanation used for the students; it's our country's birthday party. The other activity they completed was making a flag.
Through pictures, we discussed various forms of transportation. The boys and girls were able to choose a picture and paint it using water color. During play, they were able to use different transportation toys to reinforce the concept.
This week also included a magical kingdom theme. Toys were provided to stimulate the imagination of the children. There were castles, knights, princesses, frogs, dragons etc.. As a group, we cooperatively made a castle scene out of colorful stickers. Individually, each child made a castle by matching triangles and rectangles to a template. During music time we danced with streamers. Children also made a magic wand using a craft sticks and colored ribbons.
During circle time the class participated in a ring toss game. They also used a Plinko game to identify numbers 1-5.
In the gym, a parachute and beach balls were the favorite activity.
That concludes our day.
Have a safe and fun July 4th weekend!
