7-22A

I hope everyone had a relaxing weekend. It's hard to believe that this is the last week of summer care. I've enjoyed having your child in Zion's program. Thanks for using us as your summer care provider. I look forward to seeing many of you for the 2014-15 school year. To those of you moving on I will miss you. Blessings to you and your child at your new school. Stop by and visit, or send an email and let me know how things are going. Please contact us if you want to return to Zion.

The Bible story is, Daniel in the Lions' Den, from the book of Daniel 6:1-23. Our story: A bad king told the people, "Do not pray to anyone but me." Daniel did not pray to the king. He prayed to God. The king threw Daniel into a den filled with lions. God sent his angel to Daniel. The angel held the lions mouths shut. God kept Daniel safe.

We learned in all situations to pray to God and only God. We thanks God for keeping us safe.

This week we will make poster boards of this story, paint a picture and/or color a picture about it. We will also sing a song about Daniel in the Lions' Den and dance, sing and roar to a song called Roar Like a Lion. Other activities will including sequencing-ABA patterns, matching blocks to a colored pattern, puzzles, inside playtime, gym time, recess: using bubble toys, chalk, sand and water toys, listening to nursery rhymes, and finally learning about community helpers through books, pictures, discussions and out in our campus community.

Songs:
Roar Like a Lion
Roar like a lion
Baa like a sheep
Hiss like a snake
Squeak like a mouse
Tweet like a bird
etc.

Daniel and the Lions

Thanks so much to Keri for sharing her song with us!
To the tune "Joshua fought the Battle of Jericho".
Daniel was thrown into the lions' den, lions' den, lions' den
Daniel was thrown into the lion's den,
Cause he prayed to God alone.

God sent his angel to the lions' den lions' den, lions' den
God sent his angel to the lions' den
And he shut the lions' mouths.
