The Birth of Moses

2 Now a man from the house of Levi went and took as his wife a Levite woman. ²The woman conceived and bore a son, and when she saw that he was a fine child, she hid him three months. ³When she could hide him no longer, she took for him a basket made of bulrushes^[a]and daubed it with bitumen and pitch. She put the child in it and placed it among the reeds by the river bank. ⁴And his sister stood at a distance to know what would be done to him. ⁵Now the daughter of Pharaoh came down to bathe at the river, while her young women walked beside the river. She saw the basket among the reeds and sent her servant woman, and she took it. ⁶When she opened it, she saw the child, and behold, the baby was crying. She took pity on him and said, “This is one of the Hebrews' children.” ⁷Then his sister said to Pharaoh's daughter, “Shall I go and call you a nurse from the Hebrew women to nurse the child for you?”⁸And Pharaoh's daughter said to her, “Go.” So the girl went and called the child's mother. ⁹And Pharaoh's daughter said to her, “Take this child away and nurse him for me, and I will give you your wages.” So the woman took the child and nursed him. ¹⁰When the child grew older, she brought him to Pharaoh's daughter, and he became her son. She named him Moses, “Because,” she said, “I drew him out of the water.”^[b]

^{He keeps us safe, just like He kept Moses safe.}

^{God sees, hears and knows every thing that happens in our lives.}

^{He is always present in our daily life.}

^{Just as God rescued Moses, He does the same for us.}

^{God decides how best to rescue His people in times of trouble.}

^{It is often in times of trouble that God does His best work.}

^{Although life may seem difficult at times, God is always working in us for good.}

Miriam watches you as you float. (Hands over your eyes)

God’s loving care guides a princess your way. (Walk 2 fingers)

And Miriam runs to get mother today. (Run 2 fingers)

Moses is growing into a man. (Stand up tall)

He learned God wants us to help when we can. (Hold hands as though

praying)

He saw sev’n sisters with sheep at the well. (Hold up 7 fingers)

And he gave them water, when others were cruel. (Pretend to draw water

from a well)

Taking his sheep to the desert one day. (Say Baa)

Moses saw fire from a bush on the way. (Act surprised)

It burned and burned but did not burn away. (Shake head no)

Then God spoke to Moses, I’m with you always. (Point up)

We had another great day at summer care. We enjoyed time outside, played with new friends, painting gifts for our dad's, looked at and listened to books about vacations from the library. Our vacation idea board is filling up with wonderful ideas on things we can do on summer vacation.
